  2. SYMPTOMS may include upper abdominal pain, an itching rash at the site of
  3. penetration (usually the sole of the foot), iron deficiency anemia, darkened
  4. stool with blood pigments and retarded growth.
  5. CAUSES may be from walking in fecally contaminated soil without shoes.
  6. TREATMENT. Anti-hookworm medication and iron therapy.
